Project Idea
The idea comes from my friend who lives in Japan, and is systemengeer. He wanted to make a social media platform, which looks like Instagram stories/ Tik Tok/ YouTube shorts, where users can post and share their travel plans that they had and thier experiences along with photos. It allows users to collect ideas for planning thier trip and keep records of the places they have visited. However, he cannot design at all, so I design screens and code pages and he program back end systems.
Challenges
There are a few problems. First of all, UI/UX design should be profoundly considered. All features are into and associated with icons and icons have to be recog nizable to users. Second is that social media should have special and unique characteristics than any other social media platform. Third is that we have to consid er how to spread out. Instagram and X ads are good places to notify people, but it is not clear how much impact that has.So, we have to set strategies and conduct and review, That is like marketing cycle or key performance indicator.
Insights
In terms of design and UI/UX, we create a prototype and ask friends to use it, and then, collect reviews. After that we have to update before publishing. The social media is designed for a specific purpose which is to share travel history with photos. Why it works out is that cameras on smartphones are improving and the price of single lens reflex/mirrorless cameras are a ordable, so photography became a regular part of life.
Digital Sketches
Since this social media platform is the place where useres share thier travel history, I thought about interface on these pages, and I set icons that they are easy to recognize what functions after tap for users. Also, I set indicator below the picture that how many picture that post has, so users can follow to the last image.
We set home page before they see posts, and can pick what they are interested in because popping up uninterested posts is annoying when they swipe up to the next post on post page like Tiktok.
Posts create page has to be linked with photo storage in device, and we use firebase to load them, which is google provides. Also, I made areas that users have to put information, so it would easy to separate posts and show them to right users.
